In June 1998, CPM Manga Publisher Jhon O'Donnell met with Kadokawa representatives and closed the deal for the rights to the Lodoss manga. Now after many, many years we will finally see the English translations of the Lodoss manga. So far, the entire "Grey Witch" and "Lady of Pharis" series has been released by CPM. Right now, they are releasing the "Heroic Knight" and "Deedlit" manga. It is uncertain wether or not we will see "Spirit of Flame" or "Welcome to Lodoss Island" translated, or any of the Crystania manga.

Lodoss Manga:


The Grey WitchThe Grey Witch: Came out during the release of the OAVs. Based on the first novel "The Grey Witch," this series had a total of 3 volumes. This manga was the basis for the first Lodoss videogame. Released in the US by CPM and ran for 22 issues. Story by: Ryo Mizuno, Art by: Yoshihiko Ochi.


Spirit of Flame The Demon of Flame: AKA "Spirit of Flame," this series was based on novel 2 "The Demon God of Fire" and ran for 2 volumes. No word on wether or not this will be released in the US.


Lady of Pharis The Lady of Pharis: This series was based on the multi-volume "Legends of Lodoss" novel series. There are two volumes, vol. 1 was released in Japan back in 1994 and vol. 2 just recently. The first volume was released in the US by CPM and ran for 8 issues. No word yet on wether or not vol. 2 will be translated. Story by: Ryo Mizuno, Art by; Akihiro Yamada.


Heroic Knight Chronicles of the Heroic Knight: This manga is based on novels 6 and 7, "Holy Knight of Lodoss, parts 1 and 2," and ran for a total of 6 volumes. The Heroic Knight storyline is the basis for the TV series after episode 8 and the 2nd Lodoss videogame(for T-16CD and other platforms). It was serialized in Monthly Shonen Ace. Currently being released in the US by CPM every month. Story by: Ryo Mizuno, Art by: Masato Natsumoto.


Welcome to Lodoss Island Welcome to Lodoss Island: The Lodoss Island manga was based, loosely, on the 2nd novel, "The Demon of Fire" and ran for 3 volumes. It began as more of an experiment rather than a long running series, but has claimed it's sucess with the Welcome to Lodoss Island movie. It was serialized in Monthly Shonen Ace. No word on wether or not this will be released in the US.


Deedlit's Tale Deedlit's Tale: Now this is a neat shoujou manga. It's entirely about Deedlit, Parn and thier adventures together. It has some beautiful art and is just a fun manga to read. I don't think it is based on any novels, except maybe the "Deedlit Special" novel. It has ran for 2 volumes so far, I'm not sure if there are any more. Currently being released by CPM every month. Story by: Ryo Mizuno, Art by: Setsuko Yoneyama.


Crystania Manga:


Legend of Crystania The Legend of Crystania: I don't know much about this but I have 2 volumes. I haven't had the time to translate anything yet, but it appears to follow the storyline from the OAVs. No word on wether or not this will be released in the US.
