Description:
The Lodoss TV series probably would have been produced years ago if it hadn't been for the arrest of the head of Kadokawa Shoten on drug charges. In the turmoil they produced a more lesser known "prequel" to Lodoss called Legend of Crystania, well, it's sort of a prequel. Now after many years the true sequel to Lodoss has come. Don't consider it a sequel of the OAVs, its more like a true telling of the Lodoss novels starting when Parn and Deedlit fight Shiris and Orson(OAV episode 8). The story follows the Lodoss novels more closely than the OAVs so maybe events that happened earlier in the OAVs didn't even happen at all, or maybe we are to assume they did. Anyway, the story starts out with Parn and his group and retells the stroy of the Scepter of Domination. After episode 8 of the TV series the story shifts it's focus onto Spark and his group about 10 or 15 years later. This is where the story really comes into it's own with all the new characters. If you've seen the Heroic Knight manga then all of this will look familiar. The manga and the TV series are exactly the same except for when chacaters are introduced.

Story:
New faces are everywhere in the first episode. There are very few similarities to where the OAV left off at this point. At the very beginning you see Ashram talking to Leylia's mother, Neese. You then see Parn, Deedlit and Cecil duke it out with Shiris and Orson. They all become friends after Orson goes berserk. They go to heal up and talk when Slayn and Leylia come in. You meet the daughter of Slayn and Leylia, Little Niece, when she is young. The first episode ends there.

Now we learn of Ashram and Karla and the gang heads toward Kashue's realm. There, Spark is introduced when he is young, and Parn and Kashue show him a few fighting techinques. They still have that big ballroom dance that was in the OAV, but this time Shiris has the hots for Parn. After hearing about Shooting Star(the big red dragon) from Kahsue, Parn and Deedlit join Kashue on his quest. They leave Shiris, Orson, Cecil, Slayn and Leylia behind.

When the gang left behind is eating they say something that attracts the attention of Marle(A small elf boy who plays the flute). Marle tells them something and then joins them. When they are all resting at an Inn, Orson starts having some nasty flashbacks to when his village was attacked when he was a boy and how he bacame a berserker. His thoughts cause him to go berserk and nearly kills Shiris. Everything is okay in the morning. Shiris, Orson, Cecil and Marle leave Slayn and Leylia behind when they go off to find treasure or something.

All this time Parn Deedlit and Kashue begin their fight against Shooting Star. After a loss of a few of Kashue's men they drive a sword through Shooting Star's eye. Then Shooting Star talks to them(wow talking dragons).

We now join Shiris' gang and they run into Ashram and his evil men. They all fight and Orson goes berserk. It all ends when Orson gets a wound from Ashram and becomes normal. They all get captured and are now underneath the deck of Ashram's boat. Marle is able to escape and runs into Parn and Deedlit's gang(Slayn and Leylia has joined them again)(I think Marle was about to leave Shiris' gang stranded in Ashram's boat). They all go and rescue them and there the 6th episode ended.

The next two episodes are about the battle over the Scepter of Domination and then the story skips ahead about 10 years into the future in episode 9. Episode 9 marks the beginning of a new adventure and storyline, new characters and new enemies. I only have the filmbooks to go from so I won't try to butcher the story until I have seen more of the show.

As soon as I get some translated lodoss I'll update the story description. I'll try and sort out the events of the episodes 7-13 from the filmbook when I get those episodes in raw Japanese, so look for more updates. Also, thanks goes out to Tim for the info about the BGM composer and info on Etoh, Pirotess, Lyna and a few other characters, and also a few spelling corrections. :)
